Johansson to replace Blunt in Iron Man?

Scarlett Johansson could be set to replace Emily Blunt in the forthcoming Iron Man sequel, it has emerged.

Blunt was favourite for the role of the Russian spy Black Widow, but Fox is considering withholding the actress so she can fulfill a commitment to the forthcoming Gulliver's Travels remake.

The Devil Wears Prada star's agents are attempting to develop a deal which will allow her to star in both movies.

However, Marvel is reportedly in negotiations with several actresses for the leather-clad role, with Johansson being one of the names mooted.

Robert Downey Jr and Gwyneth Paltrow are both returning for the follow-up, which will again be directed by Jon Favreau.

Sam Rockwell and Mickey Rourke have both been linked to possible villain roles in the project.

Meanwhile, Scarlett is currently starring alongside Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem in Woody Allen's romantic comedy Christina Vicky Barcelona.

A shooting date for Iron Man 2 has not yet been confirmed.
