Dark Knight tops takings at worldwide box office
Batman movie The Dark Knight has taken more than £700 million at the worldwide box office, making it the fourth highest grossing film of all time. The action movie, starring Christian Bale and the late Heath Ledger, was an instant success when it was released last summer (08). And now it has taken more than £700 million in movie theatres - including £372.8 million in U.S. cinemas, and more than £327 million overseas. Titanic remains the highest grossing film of all time, with The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King in second and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest at third.
