We speak to Yorkshire’s finest, Sean Bean about his role as Ulrich in the new Medieval thriller Black Death, from Brit director Christopher Smith.

The actor reveals what attracted him to the role of Ulrich, what is was like wading through the wet and muddy Middle Ages, and who his film icons are. The proud Sheffield United fan also gives us his insight into England's chances in the World Cup.

Set in 1348 in plague ridden Medieval England, the story follows Osmund (Eddie Redmayne), a young monk charged with leading the fearsome knight Ulric (Bean), and his group of mercenaries to a remote village where the inhabitants are unaffected by the black death. Their quest is to hunt down a creature with the ability to revive the dead, called the necromancer. Upon discovering the mythical village, Ulric is forced to choose between his faith and the secrets of the village...
