Washington and Jackson voted best black actors
Denzel Washington and Samuel L. Jackson came in joint first place, after 1,400 people were surveyed.
Washington, the star of Training Day, Man On Fire and The Manchurian Candidate, could not be separated from Star Wars, Unbreakable and Coach Carter actor Jackson, as they finished level pegging.
Morgan Freeman, who has appeared in Million Dollar Baby, Bruce Almighty and Along Came A Spider, was close behind in third place.
Laurence Fishburne, who appeared in The Matrix films came fourth, while Sidney Poitier, the first black actor to win an Oscar in a leading role, came sixth.
There were two British representatives in the top ten. Sophie Okonedo, who has featured in Dirty Pretty Things and Hotel Rwanda came seventh.
Meanwhile, Adrian Lester who was in the BBC series Hustle and the film Primary Colors, finished ninth.
