Gellar homes in on next horror role
American McGee, the designer of popular computer games such as Doom and Quake, created a twisted and dark take on the fairytale story of Alice in Wonderland, and now this horror world is being brought to the silver screen in Alice.
The film is to be directed by Marcus Nispel, who also directed the 2003 version of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which starred Cellular actress Jessica Biel.
Scooby Doo actress Gellar will play the role of Alice, and is no stranger to scary movies.
After shooting to stardom in Buffy The Vampire Slayer, the actress has since appeared in movies including I Know What You Did Last Summer, Scream 2 and, most recently, The Grudge.
Initially, it had been rumoured that Wes Craven, director of A Nightmare on Elm Street, would direct the film, working with Natalie Portman, but this has turned out not to be the case.
