British schoolboy lands plum Stormbreaker role
Alex Pettyfer will play the teenage spy in the film derived from the books written by Alex Horowitz.
He will line-up alongside some of the film industry's biggest names, such as Star Wars actor Ewan McGregor and Sin City's Mickey Rourke.
Love Actually star Bill Nighy, Alicia Silverstone of Clueless fame and Hotel Rwanda's Sophie Okonedo are all set to appear in the film as well.
Pettyfer was understandably delighted to beat off competition from 500 other hopefuls: "This is going to be such a great experience for me. Alex is an amazing character leading this incredible life as a spy."
Horowitz's books have sold eight million copies across the world, and the author was happy with the choice of Pettyfer for the lead role.
Horowitz said: "I saw Alex in Tom Brown's Schooldays and was so impressed by his performance that I emailed the film's producers and said 'You have to see this boy'."
