Buffy the Vampire Slayer film planned

5 stars out of 5.0
Buffy the Vampire Slayer could be high-kicking her way back onto our screens in a big-screen adaptation, according to reports.

The director of the original 1992 cinema outing Rubel Kuzui and her husband, Kaz Kuzui, are set to return for the remake, but Buffy creator Joss Whedon is not thought to be on board, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Kristy Swanson appeared as Buffy in the first film alongside Donald Sutherland (Pride & Prejudice) and Luke Perry.

Kuzui, who retained the rights to the scripts, later teamed up with Gail Berman to create a TV series starring Sarah Michelle Gellar and British actor Anthony Head.

It is believed that the new film would not be a sequel, nor would it involve any of the spin-off characters from the TV series, such as Angel (David Boreanaz) or Willow (Alyson Hannigan).

The parties involved are meeting with writers and hearing takes, and will later look for a home for the project.
