The Dark Knight wins 5 Saturn Awards

The Dark Knight was the big winner at last night's Saturn Awards in Los Angeles, taking home five gongs.

It was named best action/adventure/thriller film and also received nods for best writer, best supporting actor (Heath Ledger), best music and best special effects.

Other big winners on the night were The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Iron Man, which both won three awards apiece.

Battlestar Galactica was the most decorated TV series of the evening, picking up three awards for best syndicated/cable television series, and both best TV actor and actress.

Lance Henriksen also received the life career award and Leonard Nimoy was presented the lifetime achievement award.

Nimoy played Mr Spock in the original Star Trek television series and also made a cameo in the latest reimagining of the franchise by JJ Abrams.

He also appears in Land of the Lost with Will Ferrell and Anna Friel, which is released in July.
