New Bond to be announced tomorrow
The successor to Pierce Brosnan, who has been shaken and not stirred in five episodes of the franchise, will be announced by Sony Pictures Entertainment in London.
Hot favourites to don the tux and gain the gadgets are Layer Cake actor Daniel Craig and newcomer Henry Cavill.
Clive Owen, Ewan McGregor, Jude Law and Colin Farrell have all been previously been the focus of speculation for the role.
The new star, whoever that may be, will start filming the 21st official Bond film in January 2006, which will be an adaptation of author Ian Fleming's first James Bond novel, Casino Royale.
Goldeneye director Martin Campbell will once again be in control, but writer Paul Haggis has said Bond will be reinvented as a younger character with none of his famous gadgets.
In addition to Brosnan, five other actors have played the secret agent, those being Sir Sean Connery, Sir Roger Moore, George Lazenby and Timothy Dalton, with Connery widely regarded as the public's favourite.
