James McAvoy signs for cancer film
The film is an adaptation of the Will Reiser novel I'm With Cancer based on the experiences of a 25-year-old screenwriter who was diagnosed and successfully battled with the disease.
Friends With Money helmer Nicole Holofcener is lined up to direct the flick, while Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Ben Karlin are set to produce.
Rogen will also appear in front of the camera.
McAvoy started his acting career appearing in TV comedies in the UK such as Early Doors and Shameless.
He made his first big impact on Hollywood in 2007 with Atonement followed by his action film debut opposite Angelina Jolie in last year's Wanted.
The Scottish actor is currently due to appear in historic drama The Last Station along with Christopher Plummer, Helen Mirren and his off-screen wife Anne-Marie Duff.
