Barry Manilow's music to be romcom soundtrack
Variety reports that the plot for the movie is to be along the lines of Love Actually and the characters will not burst into song as they did in the recent hit musical Mamma Mia!
Manilow is said to be behind the venture and this is the first time he has granted permission for his catalogue to be used in a film.
His manager Garry Kief will also produce the film and Manilow will come on board at later date to help shape the project when a writer has been hired.
The project was the brainchild of Stern, who in the past has produced Being John Malkovich and Velvet Goldmine.
He is also currently working on another project - Slo-Mo that is being directed by John Krokidas.
