Perry scores another U.S. number one movie
Writer/director Tyler Perry has proved yet again he's a force to be reckoned with in Hollywood after taking his latest movie to the top of the U.S. box office.
The mogul's low-budget films about African-American life always seem to hit to hot spot - and he's done it again with I Can Do Bad All By Myself, which stars Taraji P. Henson and features Mary J. Blige in her first film role.
The movie, Perry's seventh in four years, made £16 million at the box office in its opening weekend to cruise to number one.
He more than doubled up on his nearest competition - Tim Burton's new film 9, which took in £7.2 million in weekend receipts.
