John Logan and Ridley Scott in possible collaboration
If the plan went ahead, it would be the first time the two have collaborated since the Oscar-winning Gladiator in 2000, reports Variety.
The deal between Logan and Fox is said to be worth seven figures and will see him adapt the novel by Jordan Ainsley, which involves terminally ill patients who become healthy after they are bitten by South American bats.
After the government conducts a series of tests on the subjects to try to extract the cure it results in an unleashing of bloodthirsty vampires.
Logan is currently writing the screenplay to Rango, a Gore Verbinski-directed animation that will feature the voices of Johnny Depp, Isla Fisher and Bill Nighy, among others.
