Gael Garcia Bernal in talks for Earthbound

Mexican actor and director Gael Garcia Bernal is reportedly in negotiations to join Kate Hudson in the romantic film Earthbound.

Nicole Kassell, director of The Woodsman, is lined up to helm the pic which has been scripted by Gren Wells, reports Variety.

The film follows the story of a terminally ill woman who falls in love with her doctor and the movie will be produced by John Davis, Mark Gill, Robert Katz and Adam Schroeder.

Earthbound will be financed by Gill and Sacker's the Film Department and production is expected to commence in January 2010.

Kate was last seen alongside Anne Hathaway in Bride Wars earlier this year and has recently finished filming Nine with Daniel Day-Lewis, Marion Cotillard and Penelope Cruz.

Bernal will next appear on our screens in Letters to Juliet, a film about an American girl on holiday in Italy who finds an unanswered letter which will co-star Amanda Seyfried.
