Aussie duo head Batman villain race
The sequel to Batman Begins, Christopher Nolan's legend-saving film, is currently being put through its final stages of pre-production.
And the appointments of the bad guys will bring proceedings ever closer to the eagerly-anticipated start of filming.
Hollywood's insider website moviehole.net claims the Aussie duo are being touted for the roles of the Joker and Harvey 'Two Face' Dent.
However, Weaving, best known for playing Agent Smith in the Matrix, and Jackman, aka Wolverine from X-Men, are facing tough competition.
Jake Gyllenhaal (Jarhead, Brokeback Mountain), one of the hottest properties in Hollywood, has also been linked with the role of playing Gotham City's district attorney Dent.
And Blighty's very own Paul Bettany (Master and Commander, The Da Vinci Code), a known favourite of Nolan, has also been linked with taking on the unenviable task of following Jack Nicholson and playing the Joker.
Christian Bale (American Psycho, Shaft) is due to return as Batman himself while Michael Caine (The Italian Job, The Cider House Rules) will also feature again as loyal butler Alfred.
