Kong is king of empire nominationsThe film is widely regarded to have been snubbed at other film ceremonies such as the Golden Globes and the Oscars, although it has received four Oscar nominations, including one for Best Visual Effects. The Empire awards, to be held on the 13th of March at the Hilton Metropole in London, are to be presented by comedian Bill Bailey and are voted for by the British public. The film has also been nominated for the categories of Best Actress for Naomi Watts (The Ring, Mulholland Drive), Best Actor for Andy Serkis (The Lord Of The Rings, 24 Hour Party People) and Best Sci-Fi / Fantasy. Period drama Pride And Predjudice, Crash, and Wallace And Gromit: The Curse Of the Were-Rabbit have also received a lot of recognition from filmgoers, with four nominations each. Ang Lee's (Hulk, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon) gay cowboy love story Brokeback Mountain dominated the Oscar nominations, with eight nominations including Best Picture and Best Director.
