Author James Ellroy will be getting noir fans excited with news that he is to write the screenplay for the adaptation of the Nikki French novel Land Of The Living.

Ellroy, who was responsible for the novel behind the critically acclaimed L.A. Confidential film that starred Kevin Spacey (American Beauty,The Usual Suspects, The Negotiator), Russel Crowe(Gladiator, Cinderella Man, romper Stomper) and Guy Pearce(Ravenous, Memento, The Proposition) among others, has been busy of late with numerous offerings due to appear on our screens.

While cinemagoers will have to wait a while for Paramount's recently completed The Nightwatchman, The Black Dahlia another Ellroy adaptation, directed by Brian De Palma and starring Josh Hartnett and Scarlet Johansson, will be hitting cinema screens soon.

The New Line cinema production of Land Of The Living will maintain a noir theme telling the story of a woman who can't convince her friends and the police that she has been kidnapped and tortured by a serial killer.
