Roman Polanski film to debut in Berlin

The Ghost Writer, Roman Polanski's latest film, is set to premiere at the Berlin Film Festival in February.

Based on Robert Harris's best selling novel The Ghost, the film tells the story of a writer called in to help a former British Prime Minister write his memoirs, set against the backdrop of a possible indictment at the International Criminal Court.

Harris and Polanski previously worked together on a script for an adaption of the historical novel Pompeii, which was later abandoned.

Trainspotting actor Ewan McGregor and former James Bond Pierce Brosnan star in the Ghost Writer, alongside Sex and the City's Kim Cattrall and Olivia Williams.

Best known for directing The Pianist, Tess and Rosemary's Baby, Polanski is currently under house arrest in Switzerland.

Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island will also receive its world premiere at the event in the German capital, which runs from February 11th until 21st.
