Knockout to be filmed in Dublin
Scenes for the film, which is called Knockout, were specifically written for filming in Dublin, the Irish capital.
The scenes will be shot at Dublin Docklands, Dublin Airport, the Shelbourne Hotel, and in other locations in the city centre and County Wicklow.
Trainspotting actor Ewan McGregor and Michael Fassbender, best known for his portrayal of Bobby Sands in Hunger, both have starring roles.
US producer Gregory Jacobs said he was excited about the project.
"Unlike most productions that tailor what's available to the script, we wrote this movie for Dublin and are thrilled that the city has been so co-operative," he said.
Shooting is to begin on February 2nd and is expected to take three weeks.
Soderbergh won the best director Oscar for 2000's Traffic. He was also nominated for the award for Erin Brockovich.
