Winona in coital comedy
The 1989 film, which also starred Christian Slater, shocked audiences with high levels of violence, cruelty and black humour and now Ryder is set to appear in Waters' latest project Sex And Death 101 as a feminist vigilante.
Waters will be directing the project this time, in which Simon Baker (Land Of The Dead, The Ring Two, Sunset Strip) receives a bizarre email detailing every woman he's had 'relations' with and every woman he'll have 'relations' with in the future.
Enter Winona stage right as the feminist vigilante out to punish lascivious males guilty of sex crimes against women and the premise for the film is established.
Ms Ryder told the Hollywood Reporter: "I fell in love with the script - it's smart, inventive and incredibly funny. It succeeds in being really funny, provocative and completely unpredictable, which for a romantic comedy is no small feat."
It is also rumoured that Boston Legal's Julie Bowen is set to star in the film.
