Benicio del Toro 'liked playing the monster' in Wolfman
The lead actor in new film The Wolfman signed up for the movie because he likes monsters, it has been revealed.
Benicio del Toro, who plays the wolfman in the remake of the 1941 horror film, said too many monsters get a bad rap, the Press Association reported.
Speaking to journalists in Mexico City, the Sin City actor said: "I have always been on the monsters' side."
"I see the werewolf as a victim; they always judge him without any understanding," he added.
The film, which is directed by Joe Johnston, tells the story of an America man who returns to his ancestral homeland where he is bitten and subsequently cursed by a werewolf.
As well as del Toro, The Wolfman also stars The Silence of the Lambs star Anthony Hopkins and The Devil Wears Prada actress Emily Blunt.
The film is due to be released in the UK on February 12th.
