Anne Marie Duff takes Standard film award
The Virgin Queen actress, who took the honour for her role in Nowhere Boy, in which she played John Lennon's mother, beat off competition from Carey Mulligan, who is nominated for an Oscar for performance in An Education.
Andy Serkis, who played Ian Dury in the punk biopic Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, won the best actor award.
Speaking to the BBC, the Lord of the Rings actor said: "It's been a really extraordinary job from the word go - it chimes in with the 10 year anniversary of Ian's death this year.
"It's really great that people start to investigate his music once again - that's actually one of the joys of it."
Best film went to Fish Tank, while director and cinematographer Nicolas Roeg won a special award for his contribution to film.
