New Frankenstein film planned

Frankenstein is to be relocated to New Orleans in a new film based on the bad doctor's experiments, it has been reported.

According to Variety, the film will return Frankenstein to the big screen in a modern-day update.

Based on the series of novels by writer Dean R Koontz, the film will centre on two "street-smart" detectives who, while investigating a murder, discover that the doctor has been conducting advanced experiments in the creation of new life.

Having giving up on his original methods, the doctor has turned to android technology and created a monster called Deucalion, who wants nothing more than to destroy his creator.

Mary Shelley's famous creation, who was known only as the Monster in her 1931 novel, was first seen on the big screen in James Whale's 1931 Frankenstein.

In 1994, Robert De Niro starred as the creature, while Kenneth Branagh took on the role of Frankenstein.
