Cameron: 'Don't blame Bigelow for producer's mistake'
James Cameron is glad Oscar bosses didn't penalise Kathryn Bigelow's Academy Award-winning movie The Hurt Locker after one of the producers was caught campaigning for votes - calling the incident a "dumb mistake".
Nicolas Chartier was left red-faced after he emailed colleagues urging them to vote for the gritty war movie in the Best Picture category before the ballot closed on 2 March (10).
He was banned from attending Sunday night's (07Mar10) star-studded ceremony, but the embarrassing incident failed to curb The Hurt Locker's Oscar success - the movie landed six honours including Best Picture and Best Director for Bigelow.
And Cameron is adamant Bigelow should not be blamed for the controversy.
He tells Access Hollywood, "I really couldn't care less about that. It doesn't reflect at all on Kathryn's integrity because the producer made a dumb mistake."
