Robert Downey Jr signs up for 3D Gravity
According to Deadline, the 44-year-old actor could star in the film which is set in a remote space station.
The flick will tell the story of how the leader of the space station's crew copes after the station is hit by a damaged satellite, killing everyone except the boss and a female astronaut.
Stranded in space, the pair must do all they can to survive.
The film, which Children of Men director Cuaron wrote with his son Jonas, is due to be filmed in London this summer.
Cuaron has previously received three Oscar nominations, including best screenplay nods for Children of Men and Y Tu Mama Tambien.
Downey, who recently played the lead role in Sherlock Holmes, will next star in Iron Man 2. The film will be released in the UK on April 30th.
