Mike Myers: Next Austin Powers is on track

The fourth instalment of the Austin Power's franchise in 'on track', Mike Myers has said.

Myers, who has played the lead role in the comic films, also revealed that he and director Jay Roach are planning a new trilogy of films based around the wicked Dr Evil.

Speaking to MTV, the actor said: "Things are on track. It's hard to keep a Stanley Cup team together and I'm very happy how insanely well it's gone. Then it gets hard to get everybody all together."

The first instalment of the franchise, Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, was released in 1997 and starred Liz Hurley and Seth Green.

Austin Powers: The Spy who Shagged Me, starring Heather Graham, was released in 1999, followed by Austin Powers in Goldmember in 2002. Singer Beyonce Knowles played Foxxy Cleopatra in the film, which sees Austin Powers travel to 1975 and defeat the villain Goldmember.
