Nightmare on Elm Street tops US box office
The new remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street has topped the US box office in its opening weekend.
Starring Jackie Earle Haley, Kyle Gallner and Rooney Mara, the film, which sees the return of serial killer Freddy Krueger, took $32 million (£21 million).
Last week's number one How to Train your Dragon fell to second place, taking £10.6 million, while Tina Fey film Date Night came in third.
Jennifer Lopez's latest film The Back-up Plan fell two places to four, with new entry Furry Vengeance taking the fifth spot. The film, which stars Brooke Shields and Brendan Fraser, tells the story of a group of animals who set about stopping a developer from destroying their woodland home.
The Losers, starring Avatar's Zoe Saldana, also dropped two places to six, while Clash of the Titans fell one spot to seven.
Kick-Ass, Death at a Funeral and Oceans rounded off the list.
