Gemma Arterton: I'm returning for Clash of the Titans 2

Gemma Arterton has said she will reprise the role of Io for the second instalment of Clash of the Titans.

Speaking to MTV news, the 24-year-old actress said no contracts have yet been signed but she expects to star in the follow up to this year's film, which also starred Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes, when plans are finalised.

"I think I am doing the second Clash," she said. "I don't know anything about it yet though. It's one of those things."

The first film tells the story of the mortal son (played by Worthington) of the god Zeus as he embarks on a perilous journey to stop the underworld and its minions from spreading their evil to earth and the heavens.

Arterton added that she thinks her character needs to take part in more action scenes in the next film.

"I think she needs to be less mythical and more real and go for the fighting. It's fun, as well, doing all that stuff."
