Craig sets sights on second Bond
Although doubts were raised that Craig did not have what it takes to play the iconic hero, the actor has been signed up for a second film after his impressive performance in the forthcoming Casino Royale.
"As we wrap production on Casino Royale, we couldn't be more excited about the direction the franchise is heading with Daniel Craig," producers Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said on behalf of Sony Pictures.
"Daniel has taken the origins of Ian Fleming's James Bond portraying, with emotional complexity, a darker and edgier 007."
Craig's Bond girl Caterina Murino has also raved about the ruthless edge the British actor brings to the role of Bond.
"Daniel is giving to this James Bond something else we never saw before," the Italian actress said.
The next instalment, Bond 22, will be released on May 2nd 2008, in the meantime Craig is taking on the role of Satan in the adaptation of Glenn Duncan's novel I, Lucifer.
