Dan Aykroyd: Ghostbusters 3 script is strong
Bill Murray, who played Dr Raymond Stantz in first two movies, recently expressed concerns about the script, which has been written by US Office duo Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg.
However, Aykroyd, who wrote and starred in the original film, which focused on three unemployed parapsychology professors who set up shop as a unique ghost removal service, said it is a strong script.
"I think [Murray] was concerned that the writing on Ghostbusters 3 by these guys would not be up to standard, but I can tell you firsthand, I'm working on the script now and those two - Stupnitsky and Eisenberg - wrote Bill the comic role of a lifetime, and the new Ghostbusters and the old are all well represented in it," he added.
Due for release in 2012, Ghostbusters 3 is expected to star Murray, Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson.
It is also rumoured that Sigourney Weaver and Anna Faris will appear in the film.
