Firth's stutter returned for A Single Man speech
The actor won a number of accolades for his turn in fashion designer Tom Ford's directorial debut, including a Best Actor BAFTA and a nomination for an Oscar.
Firth was in preparations for his role as stammering monarch King George VI in the his latest movie as he promoted A Single Man throughout last year's (10) awards season, and the stutter came back to haunt him as he accepted one of his prizes.
The King's Speech director Tom Hooper says, "He (Firth) came back the next morning and he said, 'I won' and I said, 'That's fantastic' and he said, 'When I made my acceptance speech I started to stammer,' so it had actually permeated into his life."
