Kiefer Sutherland: 24 film could start filming in December

The film version of hit TV show 24 should begin filming before the end of the year if Kiefer Sutherland gets his way.

Speaking to Extra, the actor, who played lead character Jack Bauer in the show's eight series, said that the filming won't begin for a good few more months.

He said: "It's a very difficult thing to take something that you've done for eight years, almost 200 episodes, and try and find a story that's going to be unique and yet service the history of the show as well."

Because of this, Sutherland said shooting will "hopefully" begin by next December or January.

Sutherland, who won a Golden Globe for his role in 24 back in 2002, will next be seen in Melancholia, which is due out this year.

Starring Kirsten Dunst, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Charlotte Rampling and John Hurt, the film focuses on two sisters, whose relationship is challenged as a planet threatens to collide with the earth.
