Simpsons trailer short and sweet
Featuring Homer, the advertisement leaves a lot to the imagination, lasting for under 30 seconds and featuring only one gag.
The trailer features a Superman badge, with a voiceover promising the greatest hero in American history - only to pan out and reveal the overweight family patriarch sat in his underwear and a too-small Superman t-shirt.
Due for release in 2007, the movie is eagerly anticipated by lovers of the dysfunctional suburbanites, after more than 15 years of popularity around the world.
The feature-length version has been written by James L Brooks and Matt Groening, the brains behind the original series.
In more recent times, the two have also collaborated on another animated series, Futurama, which was axed by producers Fox, before new episodes were planned.
The series became known for the host of celebrity voiceovers - featuring Mick Jagger, Paul McCartney, Michael Jackson and Danny DeVito - with a who's who of Hollywood expected for the movie.
