Duffy: I relate to character in Patagonia
The film, which sees the songstress make her acting debut, is a parallel road movie through both Wales and Argentina.
Directed by Marc Evans, best known for My Little Eye, the film also stars Matthew Rhys, Radoslaw Kaim, Matthew Gravelle, Marcin Kwasny and Nia Roberts.
Speaking to the BBC, Duffy said she felt Sissy's character "was very close to who I used to be".
Although the singer said she doesn't believe she has changed dramatically, she revealed there are elements of Sissy which she has left behind and these made her feel compelled to do the film.
Duffy admitted that she was able to relate to the aimlessness that Sissy displays, noting that this was something she had experienced as a youngster.
"This little girl [is] lost in time, looking slightly out of place, I remember being that person. She resembled something that I had experienced growing up in [the Welsh town] Nefyn," the musician explained.
