Ryan Gosling 'could be set for Lone Ranger role'
According to TheWrap, director Gore Verbinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer are the imaginations behind the film's concept, which could also see Edwards Scissorhands star and long-time Tim Burton collaborator Johnny Depp play the ranger's popular sidekick, Tonto.
The screenplay for the adaptation looks set to be penned by Justin Haythe, the news provider reports, the man who adapted the Richard Yates book Revolutionary Road for the silver screen.
Gosling has previously starred in Blue Valentine, Lars and the Real Girl and Half Nelson, along with Fracture, which also featured the talents of Anthony Hopkins.
The 30-year-old star is also due to play the title role in the remake of sci-fi adventure Logan's Run.
