Thor tops US box office for second week
The film, which stars Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins and Natalie Portman, tells the story of the arrogant warrior Thor who is sent to live on Earth.
New film Bridesmaids debuted at two. It stars Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph and Rose Byrne and focuses on a lovelorn and financially broke woman who is chosen as her best friend's maid of honour.
Last week's number two, Fast Five, slipped to three, while Priest opened at four. Starring Paul Bettany, Cam Gigandet and Maggie Q, the film tells of a priest who disobeys church rules and sets off to find the vampires who have taken his niece.
Rio remained at five, while Jumping the Broom, featuring Paula Patton, Laz Alonso and Angela Bassett, slipped to six.
Something Borrowed, Water for Elephants, Madea's Big Happy Family and Soul Surfer rounded off the top ten list.
