The Twilight Saga: Eclipse named best movie at MTV awards

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse has netted the best film accolade at this year's MTV movie awards.

Starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, the film saw off competition from Black Swan, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, Inception and The Social Network.

Meanwhile, the film also netted the award for best kiss thanks to the efforts of Stewart and Pattinson, while the fight scene between Bryce Dallas Howard, Xavier Samuel and Pattinson took the best fight accolade.

Stewart saw off competition from Oscar winner Natalie Portman, Emma Stone, Harry Potter's Emma Watson and Jennifer Aniston to win the best actress prize.

Pattinson also claimed the best male performance, beating Daniel Radcliffe, Jesse Eisenberg, Lautner and Zac Efron.

Reese Witherspoon, who won an Oscar for her performance in 2005's Walk the Line, was handed a generation award, while other winners on the night included best breakout star Chloe Grace Moretz and Justin Bieber, who took the best jaw-dropping moment prize for Never Say Never.
