Michael Bay: You need to see new Transformers in 3D
Bay directed Transformers: Dark of the Moon, which is set for release on June 29th. It stars Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Tyrese Gibson.
In a letter to fans, Bay advised them to see the robot-based franchise in 3D – the medium he argued the film is meant to be seen in.
"Dark of the Moon has some of the most technically-challenging sequences ever shot. And shot in 3D. I must urge you to find the very best theatre and see this movie in that format. 3D was a forethought, not an afterthought in this movie," he wrote.
He added that James Cameron and Steven Spielberg influenced his decision to shoot in 3D, but Bay revealed that the Transformers team developed new techniques to make the technology sharper and brighter.
Bay also directed 2007's Transformers, as well as the follow up in 2009 - Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
