UK box office transformed by Dark of the Moon

Dark of the Moon has transformed the UK's box office in its opening week.

The film, which is the latest in the Transformers franchise, took the number one spot. It stars Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Tyrese Gibson.

Bridesmaids, starring Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph and Rose Byrne, slipped from the top spot to second position, while Kung Fu Panda 2 dropped from two to three.

Bad Teacher, which features Cameron Diaz, Jason Segel and Justin Timberlake, remained at four.

Larry Crowne was another new entry at five. Starring Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts and Sarah Mahoney, the film focuses on a middle-aged man who reinvents himself after losing his job.

The Hangover Part II took the sixth spot, while Green Lantern was the biggest faller this week, dropping from three to seven.

X-Men: First Class, new film Delhi Belly and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides rounded off the top ten list.
