Weisz signs up for The Lovely Bones
Weisz, who also counts movies such as The Mummy and The Constant Gardener on her CV, will play the mother of a young girl who is murdered, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The Lovely Bones tells the story from the girl's point of view as she watches her family deal with the aftermath of her death.
Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson has been working on bringing the book to the big screen and will direct the film - his first since 2005's remake of the epic King Kong.
Meanwhile, fans of Weisz can look forward to a number of forthcoming films starring the Oscar-winning actress, such as My Blueberry Nights and Fred Claus.
