Next two Saws get a director
Psychologically chilling, the first Saw movie introduced a character who set up his victims in horrendous situations - with the only way out being to kill someone else.
However, three years on, the fourth film is set to hit cinemas in October and it has been reported that the fifth and sixth are to be directed by David Hackl, who served as production designer for Saw II, Saw III and Saw IV.
Fans will know that each film has a dark and grimy visual effect, contributing to its bleak tone but providing a suitable backdrop for the mind games played by the killer.
Horror franchises often include a killer or protagonist who never seems to die, with classic examples being the superb Halloween series and the A Nightmare on Elm Street collection; both of these clocked up an impressive eight movies each before finally being laid to rest.
