Buffy cast discuss movie possibilities

3 stars out of 5.0
Former cast members of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series have spoken on the possibility of the franchise being resurrected as a full-length movie.

According to MTV.com, Sarah Michelle Gellar, who starred as the teenage hunter of the undead for seven seasons, said following the character's initial failure to make an impact on the big screen in its original incarnation, a new attempt would be difficult.

"Because we already were a movie that wasn't successful, I think it makes it that much tougher for us to go out there," she said.

Speaking at a recent event that reunited stars of the show for the first time in four years, she added the key to the success of series was its ability to allow characters to develop over time - which can be difficult in a two-hour feature.

Charisma Carpenter, who starred as Cordelia Chase in the teen horror-drama, added there was little doubt that were the series brought back from the dead it would be welcomed by a number of fans.

"No one's been formally asked to do it, but I'm sure it would be very popular," she said.

However, if the series were to be picked up it is unlikely the character of Cordelia would feature - she died in the fifth season of the Buffy spin-off series, Angel.
