Highlander to be revisited
Originally made in 1986, the film is to be given an overhaul with a screenplay penned by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, fresh from their success on Jon Favreau's blockbuster hit Iron Man.
Addressing reporters at Cannes Film Festival, Patrick Wachsberger of Summit Entertainment, which has bought worldwide rights to the franchise, said: "I have been a huge fan of the original Highlander and of its mythology.
"I have always dreamed of reinventing this franchise; as a brand it is hard to think of one which has greater worldwide recognition with audiences - young and old."
The original film spawned four sequels, all of which featured Lambert, as well as a slightly questionable television series and other spin-offs.
No casting details have been made available as yet.
