Sex 'no match for Indy'
Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon and Kim Cattrall reunited for the film, which took £8.77 million in its opening weekend.
However, the girl's cinema debut did not prove as attractive to UK audiences as the return of Harrison Ford as Indy, with his latest exploits pulling in £12.2 million in its first three days on show, reports the BBC.
The performance of the two movies mirrored their reception in the US, where Carrie and Co took the top spot with $55.7 million (£28.3 million) just beating Indiana Jones, which took $46 million, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Rom-com What Happens In Vegas fell to third place, with box office takings of £6.41 million, while Iron Man fell one place to fourth.
