Kate Hudson gives birth

Kate Hudson has given birth to her first baby.

The actress and her husband, Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson, are this morning celebrating the birth of their son, Ryder Russell Robinson.

The baby was born in Los Angeles weighing 8lb 11oz, a spokesperson for the couple declared.

The couple married in 2000.

24-year old Kate, daughter of veteran actress Goldie Hawn, was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress nomination for her role in Almost Famous.
