Hanks and Tautou head for the highlands
It was originally thought that the closing scenes of the movie, based on the bestselling novel by Dan Brown, would be filmed on a replica set in Ireland or France under the direction of Ron Howard.
But Andrew Russell, chairman of the Rosslyn Chapel Trust, confirmed: "They want the chapel for eight days, and will probably take it at the end of August or beginning of September."
The news is a major boost to Rosslyn Chapel, which is investing heavily in major restoration.
The trust will be able to command a handsome location fee, due to the exclusivity of the site, and the number of visitors is expected to rise dramatically.
Even before the announcement, there had been a 56 per cent increase in visitors since the novel was published. The arrival of Hollywood's A-list including The Pink Panther star Jean Reno who is set to play French inspector Bezu Fache, is sure to bolster this figure further.
