Vanity Fair due for mid-May DVD releaseThe film boasts a strong cast, not least Ms Witherspoon, star of Legally Blonde 2 and Cruel Intentions, in the role of main protagonist Becky Sharp. In support is a host of British talent including Notting Hill funny man Rhys Ifans, James Purefoy from Maybe Baby and the versatile Jim Broadbent of Moulin Rouge fame. Bob Hoskins and Gabriel Byrne also feature in the story of a young woman born into poverty who attempts to move up the social ranks in 1820s London. The 2004 film version of the classic novel by William Makepeace Thackeray is written by Gosford Park script-writer Julian Fellowes. DVD extras include audio commentary from director Mira Nair, renowned for Monsoon Wedding, as well as deleted scenes and a behind-the-scenes look at the film.
