Miller blasts Hollywood leading men

3 stars out of 5.0
Director Frank Miller has criticised the lack of good leading men in Hollywood, claiming that he struggled to cast the lead role in The Spirit.

The Sin City director wanted to give the lead role in the new comic book adaptation to an unknown face, reports Digital Spy.

However, Miller said it was "a long process" to find the right person, but he eventually settled on Gabriel Macht for the eponymous role.

"We interviewed dozens and dozens of people. It was very difficult because we were interviewing them in Hollywood," he explained.

"There's a bit of a problem in that Hollywood breeds many a good male actor but it breeds very, very few men."

He added that the part required someone who could effectively play a hero, but could also "look a bit foolish - especially when beautiful women are around".

Miller recently claimed he has already penned sequels to his hit films 300 and Sin City.
