L'Enfant wins top prize at Cannes Film Festival
The film was directed by brothers Jean-Pierre Dardenne and Luc Dardenne, who also won the award in 1999 for their film Rosetta.
Million Dollar Baby and Oscar-award winners Morgan Freeman and Hilary Swank presented them with their awards.
L'Enfant beat off strong competition, including the bookies' favourite, Michael Haneke's Cache, which stars Juliette Binoche and Daniel Auteuil.
The Grand Prix went to Broken Flowers, a melancholic movie directed by Jim Jarmusch, the man behind Coffee And Cigarettes, and featuring Lost In Translation star Bill Murray, Jessica Lange and Sharon Stone.
Meanwhile, Tommy Lee Jones, the experienced actor from The Fugitive, US Marshals, Batman Forever and the Men In Black films, won the Best Actor award for his role in The Three Burials Of Melquiades Estrada, which he also directed.
