Fast And The Furious 3 finds its feet

The Fast And The Furious 3 has found itself a director, with the announcement that indie director Justin Lin will take control of the racing car film.

However, neither Vin Diesel nor Paul Walker, stars from the first two Fast And The Furious movies, will feature in the third instalment.

Producer Neal Moritz will once again oversee proceedings, having also worked recently on xXx: State Of The Union, Torque and Out Of Time.

Lin is currently finishing off Annapolis, a drama starring Tyrese, Donnie Wahlberg and James Franco, and will also direct the US version of Oldboy.

The script has been penned by Chris Morgan, the man who wrote the screenplay for Cellular, which featured Kim Basinger.

The Fast And Furious franchise has proved extremely popular since the original movie in 2001, directed by Rob Cohen, took $207m worldwide. John Singleton's follow-up, 2 Fast 2 Furious took a further $236m.
